Computer Generated Imagery--CGI (3D Animation)
![]() |
The images shown on this page are taken from running footage of CGI developed by ORTHSTAR for train operator simulators.
ORTHSTAR's 3D Animation (CGI) tools allow the custom design of graphics for the customers training needs, including using the customer's track maps for the layout of routes.
The system is capable of simulating emergency and environmental conditions such as fog, snow, rain, signal changes, trip stop arms, markers, signs, associated lights, light banks and specifications by the customer. The first image on the left depicts a pre-selected level of fog at dusk. The amount of fog, rain, snow, and time of day, such as the scenes shown below, can be modified by the instructor prior to each training session.
There is also the capability of inserting a preceding or following train on any given exercise on the same track as well as parallel tracks to simulate train traffic for a particular line (SignaLink™). This functionality helps a student adjust their operation in congested areas.
