PATH PA-5 Train Operator Simulator (TOS)

State-Of-The Art

Train Simulation

Kawasaki Rail Car, Inc contracted ORTHSTAR to provide to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey , PATH,  the Train Operator Simulator for the new PA-5 Transit Car contract.

The PA-5 cab simulator is a full replica cab with front and side view computer generated imagery, and a six Degrees of Freedom motion system.

The modular design of the simulator allowed for the use of Commercially-Off-The-Shelf components which provided the latest state of the art computers and development systems.

ORTHSTAR's 20+ years of Experience in Simulation

Since the 1980's ORTHSTAR has been a significant developer of many aspects of aircraft, helicopter and rail transportation simulators.

In 1995 ORTHSTAR purchased the Rail Simulation Business from Link Simulation. Since then ORTHSTAR has advanced the technology in Train Locomotive, High Speed Passenger and Freight Trains, and Transit Car Simulators.

ORTHSTAR applied our technology to the PATH PA-5 Train Operator Simulator to create one of the most advanced high fidelity simulator in the world marketplace.

Major System Components

A typical ORTHSTAR simulator consists of two major stations: an Instructor Station and a Student Station.

This Instructor Station creates and controls the training exercise for the student as well as measures the student's performance.

The Student Station consist of a replica cab with complete train interiors such as displays, master controller, and switch panels, and optionally a full motion system.
