Technology of a Special Interest

This page is dedicated to the memory of Seymour Cray

ORTHSTAR is a high technology based company with interest in many computer/software application areas. The range of interest and technological exploration is from the large array application of networked microprocessors to the concept of the supercomputer.

ORTHSTAR's research and development has led us into many unique areas of computer technology:

The Application of Thread Algebra: This is ORTHSTAR's concept of the mind of the robot. The mathematical technique invented by James Orsillo that integrates logic events to temporal events as a single mathematical function. This technology has been applied to numerous simulation modeling techniques from Train Dispatcher Systems to Aircraft Training Simulators to design methodologies for factory automation. This technology is a new concept that is currently proprietary and unpublished.

Automatic software testing and documentation tools to support system and software development using Military Standards and IEEE Software Engineering Specifications. These proprietary tools allow ORTHSTAR to engineer significant software quality assurance into any real-time or simulation project.

The ESNE Concept: This is an ORTHSTAR proprietary technology that is a data fusion concept that is used in adaptive system development. The uniqueness of this technology is that the basis is "Fuzzy logic" and the system approach is to learn and adapt as information is accumulated.

ORTHSTAR is currently applying this new technology to two product development activities:

TrackSTAR (Track Space-Time Analysis Reporting)...a Train Line Management System that predicts the future performance of a scheduled railroad that is perturbed with real-time train movement and unexpected events.

TrainSTAR (Smart Train Advanced Ranging).... a real-time safety device to assist with on-board train control for Locomotive Engineers/Operators by predicting train dynamics and performance in the direction of travel.
